LINDY LOU, JUROR NUMBER 2

Lindy Lou, Juror Number 2 (original title)

A film by Florent Vassault

Lindy, a former juror, starts a journey through Mississippi looking for the 11 jurors alongside who she sentenced a man to death, 20 years ago.

Looking like 12 ANGRY MEN, Lindy’s story is all but fictional.

For 20 years, she has lived with an unbearable feeling of guilt and no one, in this Republican and Protestant community, understood her distress.

In 2006, Lindy met the man, Bobby Wilcher, who didn’t have a single visitor on death row in Parchman. She sought his forgiveness and became his friend. This friendship shocked and she lost dear friends along the way.

Lindy was the only visitor Bobby Wilcher had on the day of his execution and she remembers seeing him in shackles in the middle of the room, glancing one last time in her direction before passing away.

Traumatized, this is how Lindy begins her journey and finds her 11 fellow jurors since they sentenced this man to death and questions the impact this experience had on them.

PORNO & LIBERTA’

Porno & Libertà (original title)

A film by Carmine Amoroso

PORNO E LIBERTA' Porn to be free is the first documentary giving an insight on the Italian 70’s and tracing porn’s incredible genesis from the first magazines, photoshoots, censorship issues to its political and social repercussions — such as the election of Porn-star Ilona Staller (Cicciolina),  the first to become parliament’s member.

It also offers food for thought about the 70’s & 80’s periods, years of transformations in which, pornography became a tool of protest and liberation, a real language.

The documentary brings to light a wide range of exclusive materials and interviews – pornographers, porn stars, writers, intellectuals, philosophers and feminists, from Lasse Braun to Riccardo Schicchi, from Marco Pannella to Ilona Staller, from Helena Velena to Judith Malina – who recall and recount what deserves to be defined as the most important sexual revolution in decades.

The Black Power Mixtape: 1967-1975

The Black Power Mixtape (original title)

A film by Göran Hugo Olsson

The Black Power Mixtape is an archive- and music- driven documentary that examines the evolution of the Black Power Movement in the African-American community and Diaspora from 1967 to 1975. Combining startlingly fresh and meaningful 16mm footage that had been lying undiscovered in the cellar of Swedish Television for the past 30 years, with contemporary audio interviews from leading African-American artists, activists, musicians and scholars, Mixtape looks at the people, society, culture and style that fuelled a change. Utilizing an innovative format that riffs on the popular 70s mixtape format, the Black Power Mixtape is a cinematic and musical journey into the ghettos of America. At the end of the Sixties, Swedish interest in the US Civil Rights Movement and the US anti-war movement peaked. With a combination of commitment and naiveté, Swedish filmmakers traveled across the Atlantic to explore the Black Power Movement. Filmmaker Göran Hugo Olsson brings this newly discovered footage to light and introduces it to a new generation across the world in a penetrating examination – through the lens of Swedish filmmakers – of the Black Power Movement from 1967-1975, and its worldwide resonance.
