Violence and love became subjects that would not let go of Fritz Lang for the rest of his life. In Vienna, as the son of a violent father, under whom his much-loved Jewish mother suffered. As a soldier in Galicia, where he experienced the horrors of the First World War. And finally as a young director in Berlin, accused of murdering his own wife.

Fritz Lang researches the "Evil" in all of us and in himself.

Gordian Maugg


Born 1966 in Heidelberg, is a german screenplay writer, film director and producer. He studied film at The Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel and at Konrad-Wolf Academy for Film and Television, Potsdam. His speciality and obsession is finding a film form that perfectly led fit together reenactment fictional scenes together with vintage archive footage. His very successful motion picture triology THE OLYMPIC SUMMER (1993), HANS WARNS – MY 20TH CENTURY (2000) and ZEPPELIN! (2005) were presented at more than 94 international film festivals and won two Major German Film Prizes (Silver 1993, Gold 2000) and 22 international awards such as the Tokyo Bronze Prize; they had also a national and an US cinema release. Cinema motion pictures as THE CAUCASIAN NIGHT (1997), INGREDIENTS FOR DREAMS (2002) followed. For German TV network NDR Gordian Maugg realized HEINRICH HEINE – ME, A LUCKY FOOL (2005), a biopic of the famous german poet, and, in 2011 STARVING WINTER – SURVIVING GERMANY'S POSTWAR PERIOD. For German TV network ZDF Gordian Maugg made MY FIGHT WITH HITLER – UPCOMING NAZI-GERMANY 1933, following the autobiography of the famous historican Sebastian Haffner. NIGHT OVER GERMANY(2013) focussed the november pogrom in 1938. Two TV movies about upcoming SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 followed in 2014. At the moment Maugg works on a tetralogy TV-film serial about the strange 1000 year old neighborhood between POLAND AND GERMANY. FRITZ LANG is Mauggs fourth and latest cinema motion picture.
